About Me
I grew up in Hitchin, Hertfordshire and developed a passion for Art from an early age. I finished school and decided to continue with my art at college then onto University. This gave me a chance to really experiment, and I found the freedom to create work and express myself the way that I wanted to. Since achieving a BA Hons in Fine Art, I have continued to create contemporary pieces and have created this site to help share my work with others.
About My Work
The canvases are hand made by me, and sold in their original frames. They can be remounted or hung as seen. My work has developed from a series of photographs, which explore the idea of frames and boundaries. I first started my work by taking certain shapes and experimenting with the outline and different compositions. I experimented with the strength of both line and frame. I played with the physicality of boundaries and the absence of an image. The fragmented shape helped express the confusion which I wanted to come across in my work.
I have experimented with colour to see how it affects the image as a whole, whether it gave the painting a greater perception, or a lack of depth. I found that texture created depth, which helped me control the outcome of the image. The dominant lines on the surface of the photograph helped steer the image so I carried this idea across to my paintings and continued to use the dominant lines. I am interested in how objects relate to each other in a physical manner, not as content.
I am creating an expression from the original glass shard pieces to create a photograph. The glass pieces I arranged in such a manner so they are positioned like in my paintings. Meaning that I constructed the glass images in the same technique as I create my layered physical paintings
